A 3:30 AM Wake-Up Call: When God Meets You in the Quiet

This morning I woke at 3:30. I couldn’t go back to sleep.

So I stretched. Did a cardio workout. Then I sat down to listen to a sermon I’d missed on Sunday.

As I sat there listening to the Word, the verse of the day appeared: Galatians 6:9.

“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

That verse felt spot on.

I was writing in my prayer mapping journal—thanking God, unloading my worries, acknowledging the uncertainty I’d been feeling, especially the financial stressors that had clearly robbed me of sleep.

But as I wrote, something shifted.

The weight I carried began to lessen.

I started to feel hopeful. Steadfast in my trust that God won’t forsake me. That He welcomes the weary.

And when I flipped to the verse in my journal, it was Luke 6:28:

“Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”

That confirmation sealed it—

I needed to wake up early.

It was destined to happen.

I needed to move, to listen, to be still longer than a few rushed minutes.

And in that space, I found peace.

Cleansed. Grounded. Hopeful.

Trusting that all things will work out in due time.

With gentle hope for today,

Daquana Cartier

The Whispered Word

Reflection Prompt:

When has God shown up for you in an unexpected moment—especially when you felt like the world was on your shoulders?

Take time to write it out. There may be clarity waiting for you in the quiet.
