“WOW, CHECK YOU OUT!”
The weather is finally warming up here in Jersey, although it still feels like we’re in a custody battle over the seasons.
My goal for June is simple: show up for myself. Be consistent. Move my body. Pour back into me.
So this morning, I got up, did a 20-minute Peloton ride, stretched, showered, got dressed—a full self-care win. And just as I was getting ready, my son calls out:
"MOM!"
I reply: “Yes?”
"Get up, turn off the AC, and come into the living room.”
You’d think he was waiting there, right? Nope. He was still in bed, under the covers, inviting me to watch a movie with him.
I gently explained I had to log into work but offered to watch the movie together in the living room. He declined. Stayed in bed. Put on his favorite show.
But then… the sweetest moment.
As I took down my hair in front of the mirror, he looked at me and said:
“WOW, CHECK YOU OUT—LOOKING GOOD, MAMA!”
Y’all. I don’t usually do compliments, but that melted me.
He’s only 4. Four!
Where do they come up with this stuff?
That tiny comment poured into my cup. Because if there’s one thing about kids—they’ll always give it to you straight. And in that moment, I felt seen. Loved. Beautiful.
So to every mama out there:
You are rocking it.
Even if you feel like you’re at your wits’ end.
Even if you're just trying to make it to bedtime.
YOU GOT THIS.
You show up. You give your all.
You are not alone.
Give yourself grace.
Shake off the guilt.
Silence the negative thoughts.
Because in the words of my toddler:
“WOW, CHECK YOU OUT!”
✨ Fix that crown, queen.
✨ Walk with purpose.
✨ Clothe yourself in peace.
From one boy mom to another, from one mama heart to yours—I’m rooting for you. 💛
