"Cute Like a Bunny Rabbit"

MJ: “Mom, you're so cute like a bunny rabbit.”
Me: “Did you just say I’m cute like a bunny rabbit?”
MJ: “Yeahhhhh…”
MJ: “I’m going to squeeze you tight because you’re so cute like a bunny rabbit.”

Then, without hesitation, he climbed onto the bed and gave me the kind of hug that steals your breath — tight, overwhelming, a little suffocating — but worth every second.

Because one day, he won’t want to hug me like this.
One day, he’ll be too big to crawl into my bed just to wrap his arms around me.

So even on the long days — the really long days — I hold onto these moments with gratitude.

MJ’s imagination blows me away. He’s silly, brave, sensitive, angry, loving — all of it wrapped up in one fiery, magical little human that I somehow had the honor of birthing.

And today, I was a bunny rabbit.
And I wouldn’t trade that for anything.
