“From Chaos to Calm: Navigating Spring Break with Faith and Fortitude”

Dear tired mom,

Can I just say these school breaks feel too long, seem to last forever, and completely mess up our routines? Don’t get me wrong—I love spending time with my son. But I swear, there were moments when I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Honestly, I can’t recall how I survived three years working from home with him. It felt like we had to relearn the routines of being together ALL DAY LONG! We’ve grown accustomed to our hours apart. He was bored, and I was overstimulated. He needed a nap but refused. I desperately wanted (and needed) a nap but couldn’t—for obvious reasons.

When I tell you how excited we both are that tomorrow is Monday and he’s returning to school—it’s an understatement! The pure joy we both expressed when I reminded him that tomorrow is SCHOOL was priceless!

Hello, teachers! You were missed! We appreciate you more than you know. It truly takes a village, and we’re so grateful you’re part of our team.

We’ll be up bright and early to start our journey because, honestly, mama needs a break!

Maybe it would have been different if we’d traveled. But let’s be real—even traveling with a toddler can be stressful. The long hours on the road, or even on a flight (haven’t tried that yet!), plus the endless bags, toys, comforting snuggy bears, soft blankets, cups, snacks…the list is endless. By the time you get back, you need a vacation from your vacation.

All this to say, moms—we made it! But brace yourselves: summer break is coming. Honestly, I couldn’t sign MJ up for camp fast enough. Structure, socialization, and a little breathing room for both of us will do wonders. It doesn’t mean I don’t love him, or that he doesn’t love me. I’ve learned that space can be healthy. These toddler years have taught me patience and perspective—though my toddler definitely thinks he’s a preteen with everything figured out!

“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
