“Mom, I’m in a rowboat—ahhhhh!”

That’s what I hear from behind me while I’m working. I turn around and there he is—standing on my two yoga blocks, holding his LeapFrog game controller like a steering wheel, “rowing” us through his imaginary adventure.

His imagination never ceases to amaze me. So does his ability to entertain himself for most of my 8-hour workday without ever seeming bored.

Of course, moments of guilt creep in. He’s older now, and I don’t want him to feel like he’s missing out. But the reality is, I’m often splitting my attention between answering his questions, responding to emails, providing coaching sessions, or sitting in meetings.

But when I’m on break—we dance. We laugh. We run. He somehow convinces me to play hide-and-seek, and our husky puppy joins in on the chaos.

Today, this was my moment of joy. Watching my son be creative, expressive, and carefree.

I think I must be doing something right.

Mama, find one moment today that makes you feel grateful. Remember—you’re doing the best you can. Perfection might not always be attainable, but it can still be our goal.
