Women of the Bible: Courage and Prayer — Esther & Hannah

As I continue reflecting on the women of the Bible, two stories stood out to me—Esther and Hannah.

Their journeys are different, but both reveal powerful expressions of faith.

Esther’s story is one of courage.

She was placed in a position she didn’t choose, during a time when her people were facing danger. Speaking up could have cost her everything, yet remaining silent could have cost even more.

What stood out to me most is that Esther chose courage, even when the outcome was uncertain.

There’s a moment in her story that says, “For such a time as this,” and it made me reflect on how sometimes we are placed in situations for a purpose we may not fully understand.

Hannah’s story reflects a different kind of faith—prayer and persistence.

She carried a deep desire in her heart and brought it to God with honesty. Her prayers were not rushed or surface-level—they were consistent and heartfelt.

Even in a season of waiting, she continued to pray.

What stood out to me about both of these women is that their faith looked different, but it was rooted in the same foundation—trusting God.

Esther trusted God enough to step forward in courage.

Hannah trusted God enough to keep praying through uncertainty.

Both remind me that faith is not one-size-fits-all.

Sometimes it looks like taking a bold step.

Sometimes it looks like quietly waiting and praying.

As I continue my journey through scripture, their stories remind me that God meets us in both—the moments where we need courage and the moments where we need patience.
